MAN KILLED AMBUSH STYLE KEVAUGHN MORGAN GUNNED DOWN!

A young man shot dead in a “quiet” Scarborough neighbourhood Thursday night was the target of an “ambush-style” killing, police say.
Investigators said Friday it was around 10 p.m. that the victim, 21-year-old Kevaughn Morgan, was walking on Rushley Dr., in the Brimley Rd. and Lawrence Ave E. area, when he was shot by an assailant lying in wait in a nearby parkette.
One of possibly two suspects was last seen running southbound across Lawrence Ave. E., towards Marcos Blvd.
That suspect is being described as a black male, 20 to 25 years old and standing 6 feet tall with a thin to medium build and short hair. He was wearing a grey and white striped shirt, white runners, and light-coloured track pants investigators say were falling down as he ran from the scene.
Police are asking residents in the area who have video surveillance equipment to see if they were able to capture images of the suspect.
Witnesses said two to five shots were fired.
“This shooting was an ambush-style attack,” said Det. Paul Worden. “The shooter was lying in wait for the (victim) and began shooting without warning or any prior communication. It is for this reason we believe that the suspect may have been following the (victim) or had him under surveillance prior to the shooting.”
Worden called it “a cowardly attack that took place in a highly populated residential neighbourhood.”
“As tragic as these results were, it could have even been worse if other members of the community had been struck by any of the fired shots,” said Worden. “We believe ... Morgan’s friends know the reason for this shooting. I strongly encourage them to come forward with any information they have.”
Morgan was known to police, lived in the area, and was on his way to visit someone on Rushley Dr. when he was gunned down.
Worden said witness information suggests Morgan was the intended target.
Police couldn’t say what the motive may have been.
“All shootings are bad, but the fact that it was done in a residential neighbourhood ... we’re concerned that there is a person out there with a gun, with this mindset,” said Worden.
